Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Book that makes things clear,- 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 It (the Quran) exists in the original Book with Us which is certainly Most Exalted, full of wisdom and (beyond linguistic structures). 4 Can We ignore sending you the Quran just because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 And never came there a prophet to them but they mocked him. 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And Who sent down water from the sky with a proper measure, so We revived a dead city with it; this is how you will be taken out. 11 And Who has created all the pairs and has appointed for you ships and cattle on which you ride, 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they have made some of His servants a part of Him. Indeed man is most evidently thankless. 15
