Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 And verily, [originating as it does] in the source, with Us, of all revelation, it is indeed sublime, full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 How many a prophet did We send among the men of old! 6 but whenever a prophet came to them, they mocked him, 7 So We destroyed far more powerful (nations) than they. The example of earlier people is there. 8 And if thou (Muhammad) ask them: Who created the heavens and the earth, they will surely answer: The Mighty, the Knower created them; 9 It is He who has made the earth for you as a cradle and has made roads therein so that you will perhaps seek guidance. 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 It is to our Lord that we shall eventually return.” 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
