Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim. 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 Verily We! We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that haply ye may reflect. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And never came there a Prophet to them but they used to mock at him. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 Who has made for you the earth like a bed, and has made for you roads therein, in order that you may find your way, 10 And Who sendeth down water from the sky in (due) measure, and We revive a dead land therewith. Even so will ye be brought forth; 11 it is He who created all living things in pairs and gave you ships to sail in and beasts to ride upon 12 so that perhaps when you ride them, you will recall the bounties of your Lord and when you establish your control over it you would say, "Glory belongs to Him who has made it subservient to us when we would not have been able to do so ourselves. 13 And verily, to Our Lord we indeed are to return! 14 Yet they have assigned to Him a part of His own servants! Man is dearly unthankful. 15
