Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the Clear Book 2 Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you might understand. 3 And verily it is, in the Original Book before Us, indeed exalted. 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 But how many were the prophets We sent amongst the peoples of old? 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 Yet, if you ask them who created the heavens and the earth, they will answer: 'The Almighty, the Knower created them' 9 He Who made the earth a resting-place for you, and made in it ways for you that you may go aright; 10 That sends down (from time to time) rain from the sky in due measure;- and We raise to life therewith a land that is dead; even so will ye be raised (from the dead);- 11 And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount. 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 "And to our Lord, surely, must we turn back!" 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
