Call to mind when Abraham said to his father and his people: “I totally disown all whom you serve 26 “Except Him Who has created me, for He will soon direct me.” (To my place of migration.) 27 And he left it as a Word to endure among those who came after him, that they may turn back (to Allah). 28 I gave them and their fathers days of enjoyment until the truth and a clear Messenger came to them. 29 But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers." 30 And they say: Why was not this Quran revealed to a man of importance in the two towns? 31 Shall they apportion their Lord's mercy? It is We Who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of the world, and raised some of them over others in degrees, so that one of them may take another as a serf; and the mercy of thy Lord is better than that which they amass. 32 And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount 33 and (silver) doors to their houses, and couches (of silver) upon which they would recline; 34 And adornments of gold. Yet all this (i.e. the roofs, doors, stairs, elevators, thrones etc. of their houses) would have been nothing but an enjoyment of this world. And the Hereafter with your Lord is only for the Muttaqun. 35
