And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 whereupon, behold, these [evil impulses] bar all such from the path [of truth,] making them think that they are guided aright! 37 But when he comes to Us, he will say (to his satan): “Would that there had been between me and you the distance as between the East and the West. How evil a companion you were!” 38 It will be said [to such a person], "You have done wrong. Having partners in punishment will be of no avail to you today." 39 Can you [Prophet] make the deaf hear? Or guide either the blind or those who are in manifest error? 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 Rather We will certainly show you that which We have promised them; for surely We are the possessors of full power over them. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. Surely you are on the Straight Way. 43 it is certainly a reminder to you and to your people and you will soon be called to account. 44 And ask those of Our apostles whom We sent before you: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent Allah? 45
