As for one who turns away from the remembrance of the Gracious God, We appoint for him a devil, who will become his intimate companion. 36 And lo! they surely turn them from the way of Allah, and yet they deem that they are rightly guided; 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 But nothing will avail you on that day, for you were unjust, and you will be partners in the punishment. 39 Can you make the deaf to hear, or show the blind, and those lost in clear error, the way? 40 But if We should take you away, still We shall inflict retribution on them; 41 Or show you some of what We have promised them. They are certainly well within Our power. 42 So hold fast to what has been revealed to you. Surely you are on the Straight Way. 43 Verily it is a great source of eminence for you and your people, and soon you will be called to account concerning that. 44 And ask those of Our apostles whom We sent before you: Did We ever appoint gods to be worshipped besides the Beneficent Allah? 45

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
