۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 He was no more than a servant (of Ours), one upon whom We bestowed Our favours and whom We made an example (of Our infinite power) for the Children of Israel. 59 And if it were Our Will, We would have [destroyed you (mankind) all, and] made angels to replace you on the earth. [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol: 25, Page 89]. 60 He is a sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it. But follow me. This is a straight path; 61 And let not Satan turn you aside. Lo! he is an open enemy for you. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 Then the groups differed amongst themselves; therefore ruin is for the unjust by the punishment of an agonising day. 65 Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
