۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 And they say, “Are our deities better or he?” They did not say this to you except to unjustly argue; in fact they are a quarrelsome people. 58 [As for Jesus,] he was nothing but [a human being] a servant [of Ours] whom We had graced [with prophethood,] and whom We made an example for the children of Israel. 59 Had We wanted, We could have made the angels as your successors on the earth. 60 And indeed, Jesus will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path. 61 Let not the Evil One hinder you: for he is to you an enemy avowed. 62 When Jesus came with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty), he said: I have come unto you with wisdom, and to make plain some of that concerning which ye differ. So keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 63 Verily Allah! He is my lord and your Lord, so worship Him: this is the straight path. 64 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! 65 Do they only wait for the Hour that it shall come upon them suddenly, while they perceive not? 66 Close friends will turn into enemies of one another on that Day, except the pious. 67
