۞ When the son of Mary was mentioned as an example, you people cried out in protest, saying, 57 and said: “Who is better, our deities or he?” They said so only out of contentiousness. They are a disputatious people. 58 He was no more than a servant: We granted Our favour to him, and We made him an example to the Children of Israel. 59 And had We so willed, [O you who worship angels,] We could indeed have made you into angels succeeding one another on earth! 60 And he ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Iesa's (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise). 61 Let not Satan hinder you (from believing in the Hour), for surely he is your open enemy. 62 And when Isa came with evidences, he said: of a surety I have come unto you with wisdom, and to expound unto you some of that wherein ye differ; so fear Allah and obey me. 63 Surely Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore serve Him; this is the right path: 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 Are they waiting (for any thing) but the Hour (of Doom) which would descend upon them suddenly, and catch them unawares? 66 Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous 67
