Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Ha Mim 1 By the Book that makes things clear; 2 Verily We have sent it down on a blessed night, verily We were to become warners. 3 Therein (that night) is decreed every matter of ordainments. 4 As commands from Us. It is indeed We who send (messengers), 5 A mercy from your Lord. Verily He is all-hearing and all-knowing, 6 Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them, if you would be certain. 7 There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death. [He is] your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers. 8 Yet they are lost in doubt and play. 9 So be on the watch for a day when heaven shall bring a manifest smoke 10 Which would envelope mankind. That would be a grievous affliction. 11 'Our Lord, remove this punishment from us, we are believers' 12 How can there be for them an admonition (at the time when the torment has reached them), when a Messenger explaining things clearly has already come to them. 13 And they had turned away from him and said: One taught (by others), a madman? 14 Lo! We withdraw the torment a little. Lo! ye return (to disbelief). 15 On the Day whereon We assault them with the greatest assault, verily We shall take vengeance. 16 ۞ And assuredly afore them We proved Fir'awn's people, and there came unto them an apostle honoured. 17 (saying:) 'Be obedient to me O worshipers of Allah. I am your honest Messenger. 18 Do not set yourselves above God: I bring you clear authority. 19 I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me [to death]. 20 If you do not want to believe, leave me alone". 21 Then he called upon his Lord: “These are a criminal people.” 22 [Allah said], "Then set out with My servants by night. Indeed, you are to be pursued. 23 "And leave the sea as it is (quiet and divided). Verily, They are a host to be drowned." 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, 26 And favours amongst which they were rejoicing! 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 and neither sky nor earth shed tears over them, nor were they allowed a respite. 29
