Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha. Mim. 1 By the clear Book, 2 We revealed it on a Blessed Night, for We were intent on warning; 3 Whereon every wise command is made clear 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 as a mercy from your Lord, He hears all and knows all, 6 Lord of the heavens and earth, and all that between them is if you have faith. 7 There is no god but He; He gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of yore. 8 Aye! they're in doubt sporting. 9 Wait for the day (which will come before the Day of Judgment) when the sky will give out dense smoke 10 Covering the people, this shall be a torment afflictive. 11 Then they will say, "Lord, relieve us from this torment, for truly we are now believers in You." 12 But how will they avail themselves of the Reminder, when a clear Messenger had already come to them 13 Yet they turn away from him and say: "Tutored (by others), a man possessed!" 14 [Still,] behold, We shall postpone this suffering for a little while, although you are bound to revert [to your evil ways: but] 15 On the Day We inflict the direst scourge upon all sinners, We will certainly exact retribution. 16 ۞ And certainly We tried before them the people of Firon, and there came to them a noble apostle, 17 "Deliver the creatures of God to me. I am the trusted messenger sent to you. 18 And saying: Be not proud against Allah. Lo! I bring you a clear warrant. 19 and I take refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you should stone me. 20 "If ye believe me not, at least keep yourselves away from me." 21 (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." 22 (He was told): “Set out with My servants by night for you will certainly be pursued. 23 And leave thou the sea divided: verily they are a host to be drowned. 24 How many were the gardens, springs, 25 And fields and grand palaces! 26 and other bounties which they enjoyed yet left behind! 27 Thus (was their end)! And We made other people inherit (those things)! 28 So the heaven and the earth did not weep for them, nor were they respited. 29
