and We delivered the Children of Israel from the humbling chastisement, 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 and gave them such signs [of Our grace] as would clearly presage a test. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 'There is nothing but our first death; we shall not be revived. 35 “Therefore bring back our forefathers, if you are truthful!” 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; 38 We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand. 39 Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
