Thus did We deliver the Children of Israel from the humiliating chastisement, 30 (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge 32 and bestowed upon them the Signs wherein lay an evident test for them. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know. 39 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 Save those on whom Allah will have mercy. Verily He! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
