So We saved the children of Israel from degrading suffering 30 from Pharaoh; surely he was a high One, of the prodigals; 31 And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations. 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 Indeed these people say: 34 "That [which is ahead of us] is but our first [and only] death, and we shall not be raised to life again. 35 "Then bring back our fore-fathers, if you speak the truth!" 36 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 A Day whereon a friend shall not avail a friend at all, nor shall they be helped. 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
