And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement, 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 And assuredly We elected them with knowledge above the worlds. 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Then bring [back] our forefathers, if you should be truthful." 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those before them? We destroyed them, [for] indeed, they were criminals. 37 It was not in idle sport that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] is the term appointed for all of them: 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Except him on whom Allah has Mercy. Verily, He is the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 42
