We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment 30 They (had experienced) under the Pharaoh. He was certainly a tyrant, guilty of excess. 31 We knowingly chose them above all other people 32 And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring then our fathers if ye say so. 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba and those afore them? We destroyed them; verily they were culprits. 37 For [thus it is:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in mere idle play: 38 We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know. 39 The Day of Decision is the appointed time for all. 40 The day on which, no friends will benefit each other at all, nor will they be helped. (Except those who are pious – see verse 43:67) 41 Except such as receive Allah's Mercy: for He is Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 42
