We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 From Firaun; he was indeed proud, among the transgressors. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And granted them signs in which there was a plain trial. 33 These men do say, 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 Bring us our fathers, if you speak truly!' 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Verily, the Day of Judgement (when Allah will judge between the creatures) is the time appointed for all of them, 40 The Day when Maulan (a near relative) cannot avail Maulan (a near relative) in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 save those upon whom God will have bestowed His grace and mercy: for, verily, He alone is almighty, a dispenser of grace. 42
