We indeed created man; and We know what his soul whispers within him, and We are nearer to him than the jugular vein. 16 [And so,] whenever the two demands [of his nature] come face to face, contending from the right and from the left, 17 not a word he utters, but by him is an observer ready. 18 The trance of death will come revealing the truth: that is what you were trying to escape. 19 And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat. 20 And every soul cometh, along with it a driver and a witness. 21 (It will be said to the sinners): "Indeed you were heedless of this, now We have removed your covering, and sharp is your sight this Day!" 22 And his companion will say: this is that which with me is ready. 23 "Cast each stubborn unbeliever into Hell," (they will be told), 24 Hinderer of good, trespasser, doubter 25 who has set up with Allah another god. Indeed, you two, cast him into the terrible punishment' 26 ۞ His satanic companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not mislead him, but he himself went astray". 27 He saith: Contend not in My presence, when I had already proffered unto you the warning. 28 The sentence that cometh from Me cannot be changed, and I am in no wise a tyrant unto the slaves. 29
