Surely We have created man, and We know the promptings of his heart, and We are nearer to him than even his jugular vein. 16 When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left. 17 There is not a word he utters but an observer is ready (to make note of it). 18 And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!" 19 And the trumpet is blown. This is the threatened Day. 20 Everyone has come, each attended by one who will drive him on, and another who will bear witness. 21 Certainly you were heedless of it, but now We have removed from you your veil, so your sight today is sharp. 22 And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared." 23 "Cast into Hell every ungrateful, rebellious one, 24 “The one who excessively prevented from virtue, the transgressor, the doubtful.” 25 “The one who appointed another God along with Allah – so both of you fling him into the severe punishment.” 26 ۞ His companion said: “I did not incite him to rebel; he was far gone into error of his own accord.” 27 (It was said): “Do not remonstrate in My presence. I had warned you. 28 No word is to be exchanged in My presence. I am not unjust to My servants". 29
