Indeed, We created the human. We know the whisperings of his soul, and are closer to him than the jugular vein. 16 (Remember!) that the two receivers (recording angels) receive (each human being after he or she has attained the age of puberty), one sitting on the right and one on the left (to note his or her actions). 17 He does not utter a single word, without a ready recorder seated next to him. 18 And the hardship of death came with the truth; “This is what you were escaping from!” 19 The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened. 20 And every human being will come forward with [his erstwhile] inner urges and [his] conscious mind, 21 'Thou wast heedless of this; therefore We have now removed from thee thy covering, and so thy sight today is piercing.' 22 His (angelic) companion will say, "(Lord), the record of his deeds is with me and is all ready". 23 The command was given: “Cast into Hell every hardened, stubborn unbeliever, 24 “The one who excessively prevented from virtue, the transgressor, the doubtful.” 25 Who set up with Allah another god. So cast him ye twain into the torment severe. 26 ۞ His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error." 27 Allah will say: wrangle not in My presence, and I had already proferred unto you the threat. 28 My word shall not be changed, nor am I in the least unjust to the servants. 29
