Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness those who scatter (dust) by dispersing, 1 And the clouds bearing a load. 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 The heavens webbed-with-tracks is witness 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Doomed are the conjecturers 10 and who wander in the abyss of confusion. 11 They ask, "When will the Day of Judgement come?" 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 sleeping little in the night-time, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
