Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 and the burden-bearers 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 What you are promised is certainly true: 5 and, verily, judgment is bound to come! 6 by the heaven full of tracks, 7 Lo! ye, forsooth, are of various opinion (concerning the truth). 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Who are under a cover of heedlessness (think not about the gravity of the Hereafter), 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on. 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 Little of the night they were wont to slumber. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 just as [there are signs thereof] within your own selves: can you not, then, see? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
