Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the winds that scatter the dust far and wide, 1 and those that bear the burden [of the rain], 2 Then by oath of those which move with ease. 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 who are heedless in the immersion. 11 'When will the Day of Judgement be' they ask. 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the hours before dawn they would ask forgiveness, 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 And on the earth there are signs for those who would be convinced. 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
