Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the winds that scatter the dust, 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 by the ships which smoothly sail on the oceans, 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely you are deeply at variance [as to what to believe] -- 8 Let whoever wishes, turn away from Our Quran. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask, "When is the Day of Recompense?" 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs (in the Paradise), 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They slept very little during the night 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 and in their wealth there was a rightful share for him who would ask and for the destitute. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as surely true as that you have speech. 23
