Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 and those that speed along with gentle ease, 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 And lo! the judgment will indeed befall. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Death to those whose opinions are merely baseless conjectures. 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 [And will be told], "Taste your torment. This is that for which you were impatient." 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
