Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [winds] scattering [dust] dispersing 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 Then by oath of those which move with ease. 3 And those [angels] apportioning [each] matter, 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And indeed, the recompense is to occur. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Indeed, you are in differing speech. 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Slain be those who mould from their imaginations. 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?" 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains, 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and would ask for forgiveness at dawn, 18 And in their properties there was the right of the beggar, and the Mahrum (the poor who does not ask the others). 19 AND ON EARTH there are signs [of God's existence, visible] to all who are endowed with inner certainty, 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heavens and the earth, this is certainly true even as you speak. 23
