Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 And the ships that glide with ease. 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 surely that you are promised is true, 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 surely, you are in different sayings, 8 Turned aside therefrom is who is turned aside. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 Taste your burning: this is that which ye sought to be hastened. 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 Accepting the rewards given by their Lord; they were indeed virtuous before this. 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth, 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
