Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 Then by oath of those which carry the burdens. 2 Then those (ships) that glide easily, 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 indeed, that which you are promised is true, 5 And verily Judgment and Justice must indeed come to pass. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: When is the day of judgment? 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately". 14 Indeed, the righteous will be among gardens and springs, 15 enjoying all that their Sustainer will have granted them [because,] verily, they were doers of good in the past: 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And in the hours before dawn, they were (found) asking (Allah) for forgiveness, 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 On the earth, and in yourselves, 20 and also in yourselves. Can you not see? 21 And in heaven is [the source of] your sustenance [on earth] and [of] all that you are promised [for your life after death]: 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth! it is most surely the truth, just as you do speak. 23
