Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those that lift and bear away heavy weights; 2 Then by oath of those which move with ease. 3 and the partitioners, 4 Undoubtedly, the promise you are given is surely true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 By the heaven with its numerous forms: 7 Verily, [O men,] you are deeply at variance as to what to believe: 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 who are dazed in perplexity 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 (And told:) "Taste your punishment. This is what you were trying to hasten." 14 The pious ones will live amidst gardens and springs, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 They used to sleep but little in the night. 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute. 19 And on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 Then by the Lord of the heaven and earth, indeed, it is truth - just as [sure as] it is that you are speaking. 23
