Hath the story of Abraham's honoured guests reached thee (O Muhammad)? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 So he brought it near them. He said: What! will you not eat? 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 His wife came forward, crying and beating her face, saying, "I am an old barren woman!" 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They replied, "We have been sent to a sinful people, 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 So We brought out from therein the believers. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa also was a lesson, when We sent him unto Fir'awn with authority manifest. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It spared nothing that it reached, but blew it into broken spreads of rotten ruins. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they revolted against the commandment of their Lord, so the rumbling overtook them while they saw. 44 They were unable to stand up, nor were they helped. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
