Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 Then he went back to his family and brought a fat roasted calf 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 Then his wife came forward, crying and beating her brow. She said, "I am surely a barren, old woman." 29 They said, 'So says thy Lord; He is the All-wise, the All-knowing.' 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 so that we bring down stones of clay upon them 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And so We left therein a message for those who fear the grievous suffering [which awaits all evildoers]. 37 And also in Moses, when We sent him unto Pharaoh, with a clear authority, 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they rebelled against the command of their Lord. So the thunderbolt overtook them while they looked on: 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
