Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 He then presented it before them and said, “Do you not eat?” 27 [And when he saw that the guests would not eat,] he became apprehensive of them; [but] they said, "Fear not" - and gave him the glad tiding of [the birth of] a son who would be endowed with deep knowledge. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 They said, “This is how your Lord has decreed; indeed He only is the Wise, the All Knowing.” 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 That we may send upon them stones of clay, 33 which are marked by your Lord for the punishment of those guilty of excesses." 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 But he withdrew (confiding) in his might, and said: A wizard or a madman. 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 It left not aught whereon it came but it made it as matter decayed. 42 And in the tribe of Thamud when it was told to them, “Enjoy for a while.” 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
