Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came to him, they said: “Peace”; he said: “Peace also be to you; (you seem to be) a group of strangers.” 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 and he laid it before them saying, 'Will you not eat?' 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Then his wife came up in great grief, and she struck her face and said: An old barren woman! 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 We saved the believers among them, 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And [thus, too, We destroyed] Noah's people aforetime: for they were iniquitous folk. 46
