Have you heard the story of the honorable guests of Abraham? 24 When they came in unto him and said: Peace! he answered, Peace! (and thought): Folk unknown (to me). 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, and brought a fatted calf, 26 And he set it before them, saying: Will ye not eat? 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said, 'Be not afraid!' And they gave him good tidings of a cunning boy. 28 So hearing his wife went forth shouting. She struck her face and exclaimed: “A barren old woman am I.” 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: And (afterward) what is your errand, O ye sent (from Allah)? 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 But did not find more than a single family of believers. 36 And therein We left a sign to those who fear the painful chastisement. 37 And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 Then We seized him and his army and cast them all into the sea: he himself [Pharaoh] was to blame. 40 There is also evidence of the Truth in the story of Ad whom We struck with a violent wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in Thamud, when We said to them: "Enjoy yourselves for a while;" 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And the folk of Noah aforetime. Lo! they were licentious folk. 46
