Has there reached you the story of the honored guests of Abraham? - 24 When they entered unto him, saying 'Peace!' he said 'Peace! You are a people unknown to me.' 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They said, "Even so has thy Lord spoken: and He is full of Wisdom and Knowledge." 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They replied: 'We are sent to a sinful nation, 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 Marked by your Lord for those who waste their substance." 34 So We brought out whoever was in the cities of the believers. 35 But We found there but one house of those surrendered (to Allah). 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 AND IN [the story of Pharaoh and] Moses, too, [We left the same message: for] when We sent him unto Pharaoh with [Our] manifest authority, 38 Then he turned away with his court, and said: a magician or a madman. 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in 'A-ad also was a lesson, when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 which spared nothing of what it came upon, but caused [all of] it to become like bones dead and decayed. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 after they had turned with disdain from their Sustainer's commandment - whereupon the thunderbolt of punishment overtook them while they were [helplessly] looking on: 44 they could not stand up again, nor could they defend themselves. 45 Before all these We destroyed the people of Noah: they were a wicked people. 46
