Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came in to him, and said, "Salam, (peace be upon you)!" He answered; "Salam, (peace be upon you)," and said: "You are a people unknown to me," 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They said, "This is true but your Lord has said, (that you will have a son); He is All-wise and All-knowing". 30 ۞ He said: what then is your errand! O ye sent ones! 31 They said: "We have been sent to a wicked people 32 So as to let loose clods of clay on them 33 Marked, from before thy Lord, for the extravagant. 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 But We found not there any just (Muslim) persons except in one house: 36 And We left there a Sign for such as fear the Grievous Penalty. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy. 40 And in Ad: When We sent upon them the destructive wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, but made it as stuff decayed. 42 In the Thamud [there was another sign], when they were told, "Make the most of your lives for a while." 43 In response they rebelled against their Lord’s command, so the thunderbolt seized them whilst they were watching. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 And the people of Noah before; surely they were an ungodly people. 46
