Has the story of Abraham's honoured guests come to you? 24 They entered to him and said: 'Peace' And he replied: 'Peace, you are people unknown to me' 25 Then he went to his family and came with a fat [roasted] calf 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They said: Even so saith thy Lord. Lo! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Then for what purpose you have come, O Messengers?" 31 They said: verily we are sent unto a people, guilty. 32 so that we may bring down upon them a shower of stones of clay, 33 "Marked as from thy Lord for those who trespass beyond bounds." 34 So We brought forth such believers as were in it, 35 but We found only one Muslim house. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and cast them into the sea. Indeed, he was blameworthy. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 It left out nothing in its path, but which it split up into fragments. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 So they were not able to stand, nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
