Have you heard the story of Abraham's honoured guests? 24 When they entered upon him and said, "[We greet you with] peace." He answered, "[And upon you] peace, [you are] a people unknown. 25 Then he turned quickly to his household, brought out a fatted calf, 26 And placed it before them, (saying): "Will you not eat?" 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 Then his wife came forward, making moan, and smote her face, and cried: A barren old woman! 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Abraham asked, "Messengers, what is your task?" 31 They said, "We have been sent to a people (deep) in sin;- 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 Marked in the presence of your Lord for the transgressors." 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 for apart from one [single] house We did not find there any who had surrendered themselves to Us. 36 and We left therein a sign for those who fear a painful punishment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back, with his court, saying, 'A sorcerer, or a man possessed!' 39 We seized him and his army and threw them into the sea. He himself was to be blamed. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And in Samood: When it was said to them: Enjoy yourselves for a while. 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 And neither stand up nor defend themselves. 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
