Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned to his household and brought a fattened calf, 26 He set it before them, saying: 'Will you not eat' 27 And he felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not," and gave him good tidings of a learned boy. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: "Even so says your Lord. Verily, He is the All-Wise, the All-Knower." 30 ۞ [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?" 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 That we may send down upon them stone of clay, 33 “That are kept marked, with your Lord, for the transgressors.” 34 Thus We brought forth from therein who were believers. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 In Moses, too, (there were signs). We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority, 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 So We seized him and his armies, and threw them into the sea, for he was worthy of blame. 40 There is also a Sign for you in (the story of) Ad, when We let loose upon them an ominous wind 41 Which turned everything it touched to ashes. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 and they were not able to stand upright, and were not helped. 45 (So had We destroyed) the people of Noah before them: They were surely a sinful people. 46
