The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 A day when they will be pushed, forcibly shoved towards the fire of hell. 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: "Aforetime, we were afraid with our families (from the punishment of Allah). 26 But God has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of scorching wind. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
