The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount; 1 And a Scripture inscribed 2 In parchment spread open 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the roof exalted, 5 And the swollen sea 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 No one can avert it. 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 On that Day woe to those who belied 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 and they will be told, "This is the fire which you called a lie. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Burn in its heat. It is all the same for you whether you exercise patience or not; This is the recompense for your deeds". 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 rejoicing in all their Lord has given them, and their Lord will guard them against the punishment of Hell. 18 'Eat and drink, with wholesome appetite, for that you were working. 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And one of them turned towards the other, questioning. 25 Saying: Surely we feared before on account of our families: 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
