The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 And the elevated canopy 5 By the sea overflowing. 6 Verily, the Torment of your Lord will surely come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. 9 The mountains move and fly away, 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Was it, then, a delusion or is it that you failed to see [its truth]? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 The pious will live in bountiful Paradise, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did, 19 reclining on couches arranged in rows. And We shall wed them to fair maidens with large beautiful eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There they will pass a goblet to one another with neither idle talk nor sin, 23 ۞ and youths, of their own, shall pass among them as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
