The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on unrolled parchment, 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 And the mountains move away with (awful) movement, 10 Then woe that Day to the beliers; 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 on that Day they shall be ruthlessly thrust into the Fire of Hell. 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic, or is it that you do not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 Saying: "We were also once full of fear at home. 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
