The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 and a Book inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 by the House inhabited 4 Consider the vault [of heaven] raised high! 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 the punishment of your Lord shall certainly come to pass, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe on that Day to those who deny the truth, 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 'This is the fire that you cried lies to! 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 We shall unite the believers with those descendants of theirs who followed them in their faith, and shall not deny them any part of the reward for their good deeds. Every person is pledged to what he did. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 But Allah hath been gracious unto us and hath preserved us from the torment of the breath of Fire. 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
