The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 In parchment spread open 3 by the Visited House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 Lo! the doom of thy Lord will surely come to pass; 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 and the mountains shall violently fly about. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 all those who [throughout their lives] but idly played with things vain 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (To them will be said:) "Eat and drink ye, with profit and health, because of your (good) deeds." 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
