The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the Mountain, 1 and the Book inscribed 2 On a parchment scroll unrolled, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 And the elevated canopy 5 and the sea swarming, 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 "This:, it will be said, "Is the Fire,- which ye were wont to deny! 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 [Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do." 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 And those who believe and whose progeny follow them in belief. We shall cause their progeny to join them, and We shall not diminish unto them aught of their own work. Every man is for that which he hath earned a pledge. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there will go round boy-servants of theirs, to serve them as if they were preserved pearls. 24 They will turn to one another ask questions, 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 “So Allah did us a great favour, and saved us from the punishment of the flame.” 27 "Verily, We used to invoke Him (Alone and none else) before. Verily, He is Al-Barr (the Most Subtle, Kind, Courteous, and Generous), the Most Merciful." 28
