The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 Consider [God's] revelation, inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 And the House (Kaaba) that is visited, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 and by the swelling sea: 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 none can avert that. 8 (It shall come to pass) on the Day when the heaven will convulse in a great convulsion, 9 and the mountains quickly move. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Now enter it. Whether you behave patiently or impatiently will make no difference: you are only being repaid for what you have done. 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
