The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the much-frequented House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the swollen sea 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 and amuse themselves with vain argumentation. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this magic? or ye still see not clearly! 15 Taste you therein its heat, and whether you are patient of it or impatient of it, it is all the same. You are only being requited for what you used to do. 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected. 24 And some of them draw near unto others, questioning, 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 "But Allah has been gracious to us, and has saved us from the torment of the Fire. 27 Before, we were supplicating to Him. He is the Giving, the Most Merciful' 28
