The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER Mount Sinai! 1 and by the Book in lines 2 in a parchment unrolled, 3 by the Visited House, 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the swollen sea 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic or do you not still see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 As to the Righteous, they will be in Gardens, and in Happiness,- 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 and in that [paradise] they shall pass on to one another a cup which will not give rise to empty talk, and neither incite to sin. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 saying, "We were afraid while in the world. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Formerly we had always prayed to Him. Surely He is Most Benign, Most Compassionate.” 28
